O Produtor, tasting note published in May 23rd 2022

Citrus colour. Notes of tropical fruits, pineapple in syrup and excellent minerality. Dry, corresponds to that found in the aroma. Balanced acidity and easy to consume.

XXVI Mestre Daniel

Mestre Daniel is produced in only one woodyard made in Vila Alva by local masters.
The grapes are exclusively from old vines and local varieties traditionally used in the production of white wine until the middle of the 20th century. This blend thus aims to showcase the typical wine of Vila Alva up to that period.
To produce this wine we counted on the help of those who know it best, the locals.
The result is a unique carved wine that celebrates the famous ‘whites’ of Vila Alva.

XXVI Talhas

We are a group of friends, native of Vila Alva, who joined to create the XXVI Talhas. We grew up watching our relatives producing wine from carvings and so we have a great passion for this tradition. This project, an old dream, is now born with the aim of dignifying and promoting the wine of carving produced in Vila Alva. Being our village one of the places in the Alentejo where the tradition of carving wine, introduced by the Romans, has been maintained until today, we feel the responsibility to continue it. Unfortunately, in recent years, this practice has been drastically reduced and it is this trend that we intend to help reverse. It is with this aim that we have reactivated Mestre Daniel’s old winery, with 26 carvings, where we produce wine using traditional methods. It was the combination of the number of carvings in our winery (26) with the Roman origin of this type of winemaking that led us to name our project XXVI Talhas”.
