Vinha do Lomedo
Vinification: This wine comes from the oldest parcel of the Lomedo Vineyard (+50 years old), which has 90% of the planting with the indigenous Syrian grape variety. It fermented and aged in an old 3,000 L barrel.
The organic production method of Quinta do Cardo wines, pioneering in Portugal, allows for the preservation of native fauna and flora, promoting the biodiversity of our agricultural ecosystem, with a strong impact on the final quality of the wines produced here.
In a granitic terroir and crafted with nearly 100 years of winemaking wisdom, our wines stand out for the sensory and cultural experience they offer and for their unique identity. In the 1930s, the first wine was produced at Quinta do Cardo, named Branco Maia. In 1986, the first white wine under the Quinta do Cardo brand was bottled. The brand’s fame soared and quickly stood out among the great Portuguese wines, bringing much prestige and strength to the then unknown Beira Interior region.
Beira Interior white wines present themselves with a color ranging from citrus yellow to straw yellow, with very rich and varied fruity aromatic notes. In the mouth, they are moderately full-bodied, not very alcoholic, with their high acidic freshness standing out, which characterizes them. They have good persistence in the mouth and longevity.
