Lavradores de Feitoria, Vinhos de Quinta S.A. is a unique project, created in September 2000 as a result of the union of 15 farmers, owners of 18 estates distributed across the best terroirs of the Douro, spread across the three sub-regions (Baixo Corgo, Cima Corgo, and Douro Superior). Currently, the company’s structure includes 48 shareholders, of which 15 are grape producers, and 19 estates. Together, they comprise a total vineyard area of over 600 hectares.
These producers – with distinct stakes in the company’s capital, under a single brand, a single winery, and a single winemaking team – came together to share resources and create synergies to achieve what they could not alone. For the first time in the Douro, a group of determined locals combined knowledge and experience, innovation, and tradition. A collective and supportive effort that marked a new era for the Douro.
Sharing and association, coordinated in a modern, reasonable, and intelligent manner, are the underlying values of Lavradores de Feitoria. The goal from the outset was to create balanced, elegant wines with aging potential, based on a declared commitment to the excellence and tradition of the Douro.
With 19 estates spread throughout the Douro, Lavradores de Feitoria manages to obtain the best raw material, with grapes of all varieties (even the lesser-known ones), vines of all ages, planted at various altitudes, with different exposures, in a huge diversity of soils.
