O Produtor, tasting note published in July 27th 2023

A wine with a greenish citrine color, expressive aromas of fresh fruit (pineapple, lychees, pear, and apricot) perfectly harmonized with notes of toast and floral hints. On the palate, it has great volume and structure, supported by a lively and refreshing acidity.

Titan of Douro

This is a wine that reflects the Territory and its people, where nature expresses its freshness, purity, and identity. The vines that gave rise to this red wine are planted in granite and schist soils.

Winemaking: Fresh grapes, harvested at their ideal ripeness, hand-picked in 20 kg crates, are transported to the winery where they undergo a careful manual selection, destemming, and gentle crushing. They are pressed in a pneumatic press, and the resulting must, in stainless steel tanks, is allowed to decant at 8°C for 48 hours. Alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 12°C for 30 days, followed by a 10-month aging period with stirring of the fine lees in second and third-year barrels.

Luís Leocádio Vinhos - Titan of Wines

From the beginning, the work has always focused on the search for old vines in the most genuine and less explored places, where there are new stories to be told in the form of wine.

It was at the foot of Serra do Reboredo (1,000 meters altitude), in Paredes da Beira, at the highest point of the Douro, that everything began, giving birth to the brand “Titan of Douro”. Surrounded by abundant granite outcrops, the area has sandy granite soils interspersed with quartz veins, an altitude between 700 – 1,000 meters, located on the slopes of the Rio Távora, and possesses an enviable heritage of century-old vineyards, untouched over time and maintained by the weathered hands of years of hard work over generations. This results in wines of great freshness, character, and identity!

Currently, the project has grown, and Luís Leocádio launches:

“Titan of Beira Interior”, a concept focused on single varietals in various vinification and aging formats.

“Titan of Távora-Varosa”, born from a passion for the region, both for its proximity and inspiration from Aquilino Ribeiro’s novel “Terras do Demo”; a region of excellence for producing the best sparkling wines in Portugal, where we wanted to do things differently and highlight still wines, with a mineral, fresh, and unique character, affectionately called “Sparkling wines without bubbles”.

“Titan of Porto”, where the winemaker becomes a true maestro, skillfully combining different lots to create a wine that is more than the sum of its parts – it is an unparalleled sensory experience and a journey of discovery and experimentation, where each lot is carefully selected and combined to create a unique expression of flavor, aroma, and character that captivates the senses and fuels dreams.
