Tarelo
Arinto do Pico is one of the most traditional and ancient grape varieties of the island, with an extraordinary adaptation to the culture of the currais, the basalt soil, and the Atlantic influence. This wine is full of mineral aromas, salinity, some citrus notes, and has an endless freshness and longevity on the palate.
Each bottle of Tarelo tells a story of tradition, dedication, and passion, conveyed through the unique flavors and aromas of Azorean wines; this unique terroir that makes Pico wines so special, where each piece of land is conquered from the basalt, the vineyard planted among the stones and protected from the fury of the sea by walls (currais) built manually, stone by stone.
Signed by winemaker Paulo Laureano and with a limited production, the Tarelo wine – a word that in the Azores means Judgement – is ideal for terroir wine enthusiasts.
Vinification: After harvesting, the grapes underwent a temperature reduction in a cold chamber to reduce the risk of oxidation and keep the aromatic component intact. The must obtained was clarified by static decantation at low temperature, and fermentation took place in stainless steel vats at 15ºC for 15 days. Maturation sur lie for 12 months before bottling.
A wine with enormous aging potential, capable of being enjoyed in 15 or 20 years.
It is a very gastronomic wine, delicious when paired with baked fatty fish and white meat dishes.
