Saturn
9 Planets, 9 Regions, 9 Producers, 9 Codes, 9 Wines: A pioneering experience, a visionary outlook. Our journey began in Portugal with our first planet, Jupiter, followed by Uranus, discovered in Priorat, a region nestled in the mountains of Tarragona, devastated by phylloxera in the late 19th century.
And now, born in the Moselle Valley, famous for its production of high-quality wines, “Saturn” is an exceptional “Grosse Lage,” a classification that highlights the most prestigious German wines, especially those made from the Riesling grape, equivalent to the French “Grand Cru.”
The vineyards are located in the “Erdener Treppchen” vineyard, in the village of Erden, with a slope of 80% to 100%, at an altitude of 120 to 260 meters above sea level. Nearby is the oldest known Roman wine press north of the Alps, built in the 2nd century AD and rediscovered in 1998.
The climate is continental, with moderately warm summers and mild winters, cool autumn nights, and the positive influence of the microclimate of the steep slopes of the Moselle. The soil consists of red Devonian weathered slate with a high rock content.
The original, ungrafted vines are over 130 years old and are extremely well adapted to their specific environment.
This wine was made from a selection of 100% healthy fruit. The fermentation was done with indigenous yeast in a sizeable fudre barrel and was left after fermentation for eight years without batonnage. After eight years on their yeasts in the fudre barrel, the wine was racked off their yeast and was bottled without fining and filtration.
A true masterpiece that promises to be a valuable investment for collectors and wine enthusiasts. An exceptional limited edition Riesling. The Saturn Code 0.5 is not just a wine; it’s a journey into space; the embodiment of German winemaking tradition with a celestial touch.
