O Produtor, tasting note published in May 27th 2024

The wine has a fine aroma, balancing fruit and vegetal notes, with a slight mineral touch. On the palate, it is young and fresh, with refreshing acidity and an elegant, enveloping finish. It will evolve towards greater complexity over time. It pairs excellently with all kinds of salads, white meats, sushi, and grilled fish.

Ribeiro Santo

Region: The Dão Demarcated Region is one of the oldest wine regions in Portugal, dating back to 1908. Located in the center of Portugal, this mountainous region, with altitudes ranging from 400m to 700m, is anchored by the Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in mainland Portugal. The region’s name comes from the Dão River, which runs through it. The wines are strongly marked by the granite soil and the presence of vines planted in forests of pine and eucalyptus trees.

Vineyards: The vineyard follows traditional planting and is situated in poor granite soil, with large rocky outcrops, from which the Serra da Estrela is visible. The vineyard operates under integrated production standards, reflecting a strong environmental concern. The combination of cultural practices and the careful use of organic products results in balanced and sustainable production.

Winemaking: The grapes come solely from Quinta do Ribeiro Santo. After total destemming, the grapes are pressed and the must is selected. It undergoes cooling and decanting at low temperatures. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, with the temperature controlled around 14ºC for 20 days.

Magnum - Carlos Lucas

Magnum Vinhos is born of 3 people who have long been connected to the world of wine. Although with different initial routes, since 1996 Carlos Lucas and Carlos Rodrigues have been making wines together, joining the group in 2005 Lúcia Freitas. The story, which does not go away, takes this team to Dão Sul, one of the biggest wine companies in Portugal, where they were the winemaking team since the beginning of the project led by Carlos Lucas. There they were responsible for making white, red, rosé and sparkling wines from the most prestigious regions of the country (Dão, Douro, Alentejo, Bairrada, Lisbon and Vinho Verde). Among all the wines produced, Quinta das Tecedeiras, Quinta do Encontro, Quinta de Cabriz and Casa de Santar stand out. Besides the Portuguese wines, they were also responsible for the oenology of wines in Brazil, in the well known Rio Sol winery. They were 20 years of conquests, creation and innovation.
In 2011, they decided to embrace a new project. Taking Quinta do Ribeiro Santo, property of Carlos Lucas, located in the Dão region and the Baton wines of Lúcia Freitas, from the Douro, they laid the foundations for Magnum Vinhos. With the construction of a new winery in Dão and an excellent acceptance of the wines in the national and international market, as well as by the press, they conquered in 2014 the highest distinction of agriculture: the prize of farmer of the year, awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture of Portugal This is a project that combines the experience, knowledge and irreverence of these 3 winemakers, with the intention of showing the best of each of the regions where they work, through wines that respect the terroir, the tradition and the
Portuguese castes.

Each bottle produced tells a story. Each wine reflects the passion, work, emotions and dedication placed in it, thus explaining the company’s signature Wine & People”.
