O Produtor, tasting note published in May 27th 2018

The Vale D. Maria RUFO Douro White has an aromatic nose, with notes of lime, lemon and a marked minerailty from the Arinto grape. The Rabigato grape variety has soft aromatic notes and good acidity, whilst Cédega do Larinho has exuberant tropical fruit aromas and more body. The balance between these three grape varieties makes Vale D. Maria RUFO Douro White a citric wine in the nose, soft and very fresh in the mouth.

Quinta Vale D. Maria

Grape Origins: the grapes for Rufo do Vale D. Maria Douro White come from Sobreda and Candedo (Murça), where the vines are at high altitudes (600 m), allowing the grapes to have good acidity and freshness. This wine is made with Arinto, Cédega do Larinho and Rabigato. Vinification and ageing: occurred at Quinta Vale D. Maria’s vinification center. Grapes destalked, slightly crushed and fermented in 2,500 to 5,000 liters stainless steel vats for 25 days at temperatures between 10° and 14° Celsius. Ageing in stainless steel for 9 months.
