O Produtor, tasting note published in May 12th 2024

Clear appearance with citrus nuances. Aromas of white fruit and pronounced citrus notes typical of the variety, associated with light sweet and toasted notes from the wood. On the palate, it has good natural acidity and freshness, very typical of Arinto, finishing with body and vibrancy. The wood aging provided structure and longevity.

The vines are planted on schist soils and benefit from a Mediterranean climate.

The harvest is done by hand and the grapes are transported to the winery in small boxes. This is followed by total destemming, crushing, and pressing with decantation in stainless steel at cold temperatures. The completely clean must is then transferred to another stainless steel tank where it begins fermentation at a controlled temperature around 15ºC. Midway through fermentation, the wine is transferred to barrels until the end of fermentation and stays there on the lees (batonnage) until preparation for bottling, undergoing only a slight fining with mineral agents and then filtration just before filling the bottles to preserve all its aromatic potential. Product with natural stabilization. Bottled in May 2024.

A white wine to be drunk young, but with good aging potential. To accompany various dishes such as seafood, all fish dishes, or appetizers, and even white meat.

Bottles should be stored horizontally in a place protected from light, clean, airy, with normal conditions of mild temperature and constant humidity.

Quinta dos Poços

Ancestral roots in the Minho and Douro Vinhateiro regions gave us the idea, when possible, to move to one of these regions, which happened in 1986. Since then, we have experienced a period of growth in the field, new plantings, modernisation of grape cultivation and must making, construction of a new winery, in short, the creation of wines of excellence. It seems obvious that this is a common and very frequent path. But in our case, it is characterised by simplicity, a sense of mission and a desire to produce well. The feeling we have is that we are doing it and that it is worth continuing, and with the help of many people we have confidence in the future. We are convinced that there are people who have the intelligence, the good taste and above all the heart to understand this work and this passion. Quinta dos Poços is located in the World Heritage area of the Douro region, in the Baixo Corgo area, in the village of Valdigem, municipality of Lamego. It is one of the oldest in the region, and the main house is a typical 18th century rural manor house. It was here that the French troops of Brigadier General Loison, the “one-armed man”, were stationed during Napoleon’s first invasion in 1808.
