Quinta do Cardo
Vinification: This Grande Reserva originates from the oldest vineyards of the Syrian grape variety, at an altitude of 750m. The grapes were handpicked and whole-cluster pressed, using only the first press juice. It is then vinified in new and used 500L French oak barrels. Aging for 1 year in barrels, on total fermentation lees.
The organic production method of Quinta do Cardo wines, pioneering in Portugal, allows for the preservation of native fauna and flora, promoting the biodiversity of our agricultural ecosystem, with a strong impact on the final quality of the wines produced here.
Quinta do Carmo Grande Reserva White Wine is an altitude and organic Beira Interior DOC wine.
In a granitic terroir and crafted with nearly 100 years of winemaking wisdom, our wines stand out for the sensory and cultural experience they offer and for their unique identity. In the 1930s, the first wine was produced at Quinta do Cardo, named Branco Maia. In 1986, the first white wine under the Quinta do Cardo brand was bottled. The brand’s fame soared and quickly stood out among the great Portuguese wines, bringing much prestige and strength to the then unknown Beira Interior region.
Beira Interior white wines present themselves with a color ranging from citrus yellow to pale straw, with very rich and varied fruity aromatic notes. In the mouth, they are moderately full-bodied, not very alcoholic, highlighting their high acidic freshness, which characterizes them. They have good persistence in the mouth and longevity.
