O Produtor, tasting note published in March 23rd 2020
Fermentation and aging in barrels provide complexity and olfactory exuberance. Predominant floral and citrus notes contribute to the balance and freshness of a wine with great amplitude.
The Encruzado grape is exclusive to the Dão region; it is well-balanced, aromatic, and gives wines great longevity.
The vines grow on slopes situated between 350 and 400 meters in altitude. The vineyard is managed under an integrated protection program, with the application of herbicides prohibited. Weed control is carried out through soil mobilization.
The harvest is manual, taking place when the grapes reach their optimal ripeness, typically in the second half of September. This first production wine was vinified in stainless steel at 13°C, with two-thirds completing fermentation in new French oak barrels, where it aged for 15 months.

Quinta de Lemos produces true nectars of the Dão! Our vineyards are tended with care by patient and experienced hands. In homage to the Dão, we create exclusive wines from the region’s native grape varieties. Located 7 km from Viseu, the district capital and a charming city, the estate sits on the Beira Alta plateau at an altitude of 340 meters. In this green paradise in central Portugal, we have a total of 50 hectares – 25 ha of vineyards, 7 ha of olive trees, and the rest divided between pine forest and vegetable garden.
