O Produtor, tasting note published in September 27th 2020

A wine full of rebellion showing what the grape variety can give us in a cool climate. Notes of fresh fruit (pineapple, papaya and kiwi), brioche, moka and pencil sharpening. It is electrifying, with an almost sharp acidity in full harmony with sucrosity and flavour.

Quinta da Biaia

The name “Quinta da Biaia” is popularly known for having belonged in the 17th century to Dona Beatriz de Sousa Lopes.
Pedro Jacques de Magalhães, hero of the battle of Castelo Rodrigo (Salgadela)* was the only son of Henrique Jacques de Magalhães, who passed by the post of Alcaide de Castelo Rodrigo, where he met Sousa Lopes.
The friendship that united these families led Pedro Jacques to choose the young Beatriz Sousa Lopes, who had been orphaned by her parents, as the perceptor (aia) of his children. Beatriz conquered the hearts of the children, who affectionately called her “Biaia”. With the passing of the years and the growth of the young Magalhães, Beatriz returned to her properties, which popularly became known as the “Quinta da Biaia”, denomination that until today is referenced.
