Prova Régia
Prova Régia is an iconic ambassador of Bucelas wines. With over two decades of history, this wine, made entirely from the Arinto grape variety, reflects the lightness and freshness of the terroir of Portugal’s only DOC exclusively for white wines.
One of Portugal’s smallest wine regions, Bucelas is located just 20 km from Lisbon, nestled between high hills and narrow valleys. It combines a moderate climate, with cold winters and sunny, breezy summers, with limestone soils ideal for white wines. Acquired by Sogrape in 2019, the centuries-old Quinta da Romeira is a landmark in Bucelas. Its vineyard accounts for about half of the region’s total area and is primarily planted with Arinto, the main grape variety of this DOC exclusively for white wines. The estate’s diverse plots, altitudes, slopes, soils, and exposures, combined with meticulous winemaking, produce a wide range of intense and delicious wines that gain even greater expressiveness with age.
Vinification: Grapes are cooled, destemmed, and pressed. After static cold settling for three days, the must is clarified and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures between 14-16 °C.
Maturation: Aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for 4 months.
Enjoying the Wine: The balance between freshness and body makes this wine an excellent companion for various occasions. Ideal to enjoy on its own or paired with salads, seafood dishes, and even some grilled meats.
Winemaker: Luís Cabral Almeida.
