O Produtor, tasting note published in May 27th 2021
The austere nose shows notes of citrus aromas and dry straw. Mineral and very elegant, this wine offers a huge complexity of aromas showing to be elegant and complex, concentrated with acidity, firm and with a tense finish.
Two years after finding the vineyards for the red wine, I found in Portalegre, in a much cooler area than the rest of the Alentejo, a unique and exceptional vineyard. An 80 year old vineyard with a blend of grape varieties and very low production, located in the Serra de São Mamede. Its composition, age and location provide an unusual freshness and complexity, giving rise to this unique and extraordinary wine. Wine made from a blend of traditional Portalegre varieties. The harvest was manual in boxes of 20 Kg, followed by a rigorous selection of the best grapes. Vinification: Started fermentation in a stainless steel vat with temperature control. Finished the fermentation in used French oak barrels. Aged 8 months in used French oak barrels.
