A year characterised by a very dry winter with low temperatures. Beginning of the cycle with the highest temperatures seen since 1931, followed by a November with significant precipitation and absence of precipitation and low average temperatures from December to the beginning of March. In March there was a considerable increase in temperature, but this did not influence budbreak, which occurred in a generalised manner, in the third and fourth week of the month. The vegetative development during the whole cycle was slow (due to the lack of rainfall), but the month of May was characterised by high temperatures and rainfall, which led to an increase in the pressure of diseases. However, the setting was good. There was a wide temperature range in July and August, with rainfall on the 14th and 15th August, which was extremely important for good maturation, and on the last days of September, which improved the quality of the grapes still to be harvested. We should also mention the hailstorm that occurred on 25 July in Celeirós, which destroyed 90% of the production of our affected vineyards.
