O Produtor, tasting note published in June 6th 2023

The wine is fresh and tangy, with bright lemon aromas and hints of brûlée, greengage, mango and ripe peach on the fruity nose. The vibrant citrus character of the nose carries through to a medium-bodied palate with intense flavours of starfruit, granadilla and nectarine. Integrated acidity in a round, soft mid-palate, and rich texture from brief exposure to French oak during fermentation, add up to a refined, balanced wine. Poached pear and melon linger on a soft, slightly saline finish, with notes of fresh fig, vanilla seeds and white flowers.

Porcupine Ridge

Porcupine Ridge has its origins in the farm’s natural environment and the ongoing efforts to conserve biodiversity on the property and in the surrounding mountains. As well as a number of rare species of fauna and flora – such as the erica lerouxiae which is endemic to Boekenhoutskloof – the estate is home to several families of crested porcupine, which are rarely seen due to their nocturnal lifestyle. “These wines are honest, true to type and true to the cultivar. Our winemaking philosophy has always been to follow a natural approach, without acidification or addition. The resulting wines are much more about a generous palate weight than simple primary aromatics followed by acidity. “~ Marc Kent.
