O Produtor, tasting note published in May 27th 2020

Pó de Poeira white presents a pale color and a very fresh aroma, which is projected with floral notes and very elegant minerals. In the mouth, it is a very pleasant wine, full of sweetness and acidity, very floral. It also shows citrus combined with suggestions of ripe fruits. The end is prolonged and persistent.

Temperatures in the region are always very high in the summer, and on a north-facing slope the grapes are always slower to ripen, better preserving aromas, flavors and acidity. Poeira Powder is the second stage in our Douro adventure started with the purchase of the Quinta and the first Dust in 2001. The possibility of producing high quality white grapes and inks on the same farm once again shows the enormous diversity of the Douro, and how this diversity is even found in Age of strains: 1 ha at 15 years, 0.7 ha at 5 years Driving: traditional vineyard in Gouyot, vineyard in unilateral cordon land Planting density: traditional vineyard 5,500 plants / ha; levels 3,500 plants / ha Soil type: schist Altitude: 400 meters Grape harvest: manual for 20 kg boxes Vinification: 50% stainless steel and 50% barrel fermentation Aging: 6 months in oak barrels franc The possibility of producing high quality white grapes and inks on the same farm once again shows the enormous diversity of the Douro, and how this diversity is even found in small properties.
When we were preparing the land for planting in 2004 we came across 1 ha of land that had a completely different soil from the rest of the farm, deeper, less stony, more fertile and with more water available. This plot is in a more sheltered area, with fewer hours of sun exposure. It seemed clear to us that even though we were facing letter A land (considered to be an excellent appetite for the production of port wine), we had an opportunity to produce excellent quality white grapes.

Poeira

The farmhouse is situated in the Douro in Provesende, along a hillside in the Pinhão valley, on the right bank of the river of the same name. It has 9 hectares of vineyard, 2 olive groves and 3 hectares of forest. The vineyard has a northern exposure, which becomes a key aspect to the table wine style. Temperatures in the region are always very high in summer, and on a north-facing slope the ripening of the grapes is always slower, better preserving the aromas, flavors and acidity. The ruined building next to the old orange tree has been reclaimed and now serves the house and cellar functions. Right in the middle of the vineyard, set in a breathtaking, intense and breathtaking landscape. The winery is minimalist with four traditional stone wineries (with temperature control) and an old vertical press. It also has an air conditioned cellar for stage barrels with thick shale walls. It is a wine cellar designed to create wines in a very slow and careful way, with everything that is necessary to allow the full expression of our “terroir”. Dust tries to be a balanced and elegant wine. In general the wines of the Douro are supported in the tannin, but the Dust is sustained in the acidity. A very drinkable and appetizing wine when new but at the same time has the capacity to evolve. I intend that each wine be the mirror of the vineyards that give rise to it, maintaining its profile but following the variations that occur in the vineyard year after year. The “dust” is telling the story of my fifth. “Did not want to remain in the roughness of his land and sought in finesse his own character.
