O Produtor, tasting note published in March 27th 2024

White fruit, dry vegetable, soft smoked notes, very elegant and proportionate. Large but fresh and creamy, with lively acidity, medium body, good structure, pure and focused finish, with slight bitterness.

Pêra-Manca

Pêra-Manca is the brand that Fundação Eugénio de Almeida reserves for its exceptional wines. The Pêra-Manca white was first produced in 1990.

Vineyards: Vineyards of Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, on granite soils.

When the grapes reach their optimal ripeness, they are harvested and transported to the winery, where the winemaking process begins: total destemming and light crushing, pressing, cooling, and must clarification. Part of the blend ferments in stainless steel tanks, while the other part ferments in French oak barrels at a controlled temperature of 16 ºC. After fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees with periodic batonnage for 12 months. Finally, the process involves filtration, blending, tartaric and protein stabilization, final filtration, and bottling, followed by a final aging period of 10 months in bottle.

Winemaking: Pedro Baptista | Duarte Lopes.
