O Produtor, tasting note published in July 22nd 2022

Complex and austere nose. Hints of wildflowers and hay, along with a delicate mineral character reminiscent of wet stone. Slight hazelnut and vanilla notes from fermentation and barrel aging. On the palate, refreshing acidity and verticality stand out. A subtle smokiness finishing long and elegantly.

Parcela Única

A wine that reveals the purest and most original qualities of the grape variety. The profile of this wine is an ode to elegance and complexity.

Anselmo Mendes’ work is recognized in Portugal and abroad not only for the excellence of the wines he produces but also for the surprising and consistent way he innovates. The fermentation of Alvarinho grapes in oak barrels or the use of ancient winemaking techniques, such as maceration, are some of the methods that make these wines stand out in the world of whites.

The grapes are manually harvested in small crates and quickly transported to the winery. Very gentle pressing of whole destemmed grapes. Extended cold clarification. Fermentation in new 400-liter French oak barrels. Aging in these barrels with lees stirring. Aging in the bottle for 12 months.

Perfect for pairing with heartier meat dishes or more complex fish, as well as seafood and crustaceans. In the company of cod with almond crust on a bed of potato purée or lamb chops with rosemary, the Parcela Única wine in perfect harmony enhances fantastic flavors.

Anselmo Mendes

Anselmo Mendes was born and grew up in Monção. It was then, as a child, that he became acquainted with the culture of the vine and wine production. The Alvarinho variety, and its wine produced there, immediately became a part of his life, to the extent that, today, Anselmo Mendes and Alvarinho are synonymous.

He graduated in Agro-Industrial Engineering in 1987, at the Higher Education Institute of the Technical University of Lisbon, and post-graduated in Oenology at the Catholic University six years later.
