O Produtor, tasting note published in July 12th 2022
Yellow and green tones with a bright appearance. Combines mineral and smoky aromas with fresh aromas of flowers and white fruits, and juniper, a local plant. In the mouth this wine is "salty" and mineral, very characteristic flavours of the Rabigato variety. It is elegant and complex, with concentration and acidity and a finish with great persistence. Great ageing potential.
The grapes come from vineyard plots at an altitude of 500 m in the Upper Douro. They are manually harvested in September in 20 kg boxes. In the winery, before being pressed, they spend 12 hours in a cold chamber at 10ºC.
At the winery, the grapes are crushed directly into a vertical press where a long and soft pressing is performed. The must then drains by gravity into an underground cement vat. The next day the must is transferred to a 2,000 L oval French oak barrel and a 600 L egg-shaped cement vat where it ferments with indigenous yeasts. Ageing lasts 20 months.
