O Produtor, tasting note published in January 10th 2024
Concise, elegant, frank, expressive. Fresh notes of citrus with great notoriety, lime, grapefruit, flower, white fruit, impeccable trace of pure minerality. Wide mouth, serious, exuberant acidity, salty trace, long.
Vinification: The grapes from several very old vineyards, over 80 years old, in the Alto Douro Vinhateiro (Mêda), were whole bunch pressed in order to extract the freshest and most vibrant must possible.
Maintaining the origin of each vineyard, the musts underwent alcoholic fermentation in new 500 litre French oak barrels for 4 months. The fermentation process using indigenous yeasts brings more complexity and character to the wines. Long maturation on the lees (12 months). Partial malolactic fermentation (30%) in French oak barrels completes the Burgundy-inspired journey.
Ageing: 12 months in barrels + 6 months in stainless steel ‘mass assemblage’ + 7 months in bottle.

Quinta Maria Izabel
Cradle of what we are and what we do: from the river were made the mountains and the people who breathe this origin.
The Douro to lose sight of: this is the landscape, this is the framework of our wines. Quinta Maria Izabel extends over 130 hectares in one of the most privileged areas of the Douro region. An impetus transformed into a great project. An idea that reveals itself to be, after all, more than a Brazilian dream in Portuguese lands. Welcome to an idea transformed into a great project.
