Kompassus
Kompassus wines are crafted according to what the vineyard gives, more than following any market trends. These are wines produced in limited quantities, with the goal of preserving the maximum potential of the vines and the quality of the wine in each specific year. With a small vineyard area, the grapes are entirely hand-harvested and, for the most part, come from vines over 70 years old.
These wines are positioned in a medium-high quality segment, which is reflected across all product lines. The vineyards are planted with a higher density between rows, around 6000 vines/ha, resulting in narrower rows, about 1.70 m apart. This old practice, used in Kompassus vineyards since always, is now on the verge of extinction.
Winemaking: Anselmo Mendes, a specialist in fresh and Atlantic whites and a master in Alvarinhos, is a great admirer of the authentic wines from Bairrada. He works alongside Magda Costa, Kompassus’ resident winemaker, in crafting the wines.
