O Produtor, tasting note published in September 27th 2014

Brilliant, young colour. It shows depth and texture that come from a subtle touch of ripe grapes. Very aromatic revealing roses, jasmine, acacia flower, succulent mango and crystallized citrus fruit, in harmony with a fine and elegant sweetness.

Famille Hugel

Hugel & Fils was founded in 1639 in the picturesque town of Riquewihr, Alsace, France. It is a 100% family owned company and is currently managed by the 12th generation.
The family owns a 28 hectare property with top quality vineyards in Riquewihr, part of the same classified “Grand Cru” and they also buy grapes from 121 hectares of vineyards under contract from producers. The Hugel estates are planted solely with noble varieties from Alsace, with some vineyards reaching 35 years of age.
Hugel produces around 110,000 cases of wine per year, 90% of which is exported to over 100 countries in the world, to whom ‘Alsace’ is generally synonymous with ‘Hugel’.
Vineyards have been grown in Alsace for over 2000 years, which has brought much prosperity to the region. Alsace has a unique climate, it is the second driest region in France, which allows grapes to ripen slowly and produce dry and aromatic wines, elegant and of unparalleled intensity: a perfect combination to accompany any dish of Asian and Western cuisine.
Hugel wines, with their characteristic yellow labels, present the pure character of the mono grape varieties Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat and Pinot Blanc, without the need to resort to wooden stages or the addition of sugar.
