Herdade do Rocim

The “Herdade do Rocim” Clay Aged is a genuine wine, produced from the passion of generations who have always had the greatest respect and tenderness for the land.

Climate: Typically Mediterranean, in the wine sub-region of Vidigueira where the climatic conditions are the mildest in Alentejo, providing an optimal microclimate for the production of high-quality wines.

Soils: Unproductive, of schist origin. Great pedological potential for vineyard cultivation and for obtaining wines of excellence.

Grape varieties: Verdelho, Viosinho, and Alvarinho grapes are trained in an ascending single plane. The orientation of the rows is East-West, and the grape varieties have the same exposure (west).

Vinification: Manual harvest in 12 kg boxes. In the winery, the grapes underwent a careful selection on a vibrating sorting table, being destemmed with a slight crushing of the berries. Foot trodden in a stone lagar, with all its stems and only with indigenous yeasts. Aging in clay amphorae for a period of 12 months.

Herdade do Rocim

Herdade do Rocim is a property located between Vidigueira and Cuba, in Baixo Alentejo, with about 120 hectares, including 70 hectares of vineyards and 10 hectares of olive groves. Acquired in 2000 by Movicortes, S.A., in the following years there was restructuring and qualification work, consummated with the planting of most of the vineyard that today constitutes the Herdade do Rocim. This process of implantation was made according to specific criteria that allow the production of high quality grapes. The winery is a structuring element of the Herdade do Rocim project, which combines wine production with the aesthetic quality of its architecture and works as a promotional element for the requalification of the region. At Herdade do Rocim all efforts go in the direction of doing well, always improving and with a constant concern for the quality of the wine.
