O Produtor, tasting note published in June 24th 2023

Visual
Straw yellow, clear.

Aromas
Complex, abundant fruity notes: apricot and white fruit (pear, apple), as well as lemonade. The aromatic richness is enhanced by obvious beeswax and subtle notes of toast and brioche.

On the palate
Very rich and full. In addition to the high, vertical acidity that occupies the whole palate. The structure is very rich and enhanced by the fantastic balance between the acidity and the smoothness of the time spent on the fine lees. Very long and persistent.

Extra
Suitable for immediate consumption, given its long ageing. However, it has the structure and acidity to continue to gain in aromatic richness in several layers over the next 7 to 8 years. After that, it will have given superb complexity and high acidity, at least another 8 to 10 years to maintain its state of grace.

Grand Vicious

A testament to the complexity and grandeur of a great grape variety – Alvarinho. In the tradition of this grape variety, Monção and Melgaço have brought out its finesse and richness in this Gran Vicious.

Origin
Vinho Verde DO, sub-region of Monção and Melgaço ;

Soil / Location
Vineyard plot on a north-facing slope. Granite sand soils.

Production method
Hand-picked in 15 kg crates. On arrival at the winery, after total destemming
total de-stemming, it underwent pellicular maceration for 8 – 10 hours, for greater aromatic intensity and depth on tasting.
tasting. We used only the teardrop must, which underwent static decantation for 24 hours. Fermentation began in a stainless steel tank at a controlled temperature of 16-18ºC, using indigenous yeasts. After passing through the most intense phase of fermentation, half of this batch was transferred to finish fermentation in used French oak barrels (Allier forest). The rest completed fermentation in stainless steel tanks.

At the end of fermentation, both parts of the batch were cleaned and returned to the barrels and stainless steel respectively. They were aged for around 12 months on the fine lees, without being stirred. The final blend was made by blending the two parts of the blend, with their lees in stainless steel, and aged for a further 12 months in stainless steel.
Bottling in October 2022.
