O Produtor, tasting note published in March 27th 2023

Grand Bateau is the result of close collaboration, dating back to the eighties, with Château Beychevelle. The boat on the label recalls the mythical boat of the prestigious Château BEYCHEVELLE Cru Classé de Saint-Julien. Philippe Blanc, Director of Château Beychevelle, provides his valuable knowledge for the final assembly of the Grand Bateau. With impeccable and consistent quality, a unique style, good fruit and a touch of vanilla. Grand Bateau embodies the nobility of Bordeaux's great wines.

Châteu Beychevelle

Château Beychevelle is a prestigious Cru Classé de Saint-Julien, whose character was forged over three centuries of history. Nowhere else does the name of the Château make more sense: Beychevelle has its origin “Baisse-Voile”, which means “to lower the sails” in French. Under Henri III, Beychevelle was the residence of the Duke of Epernon, admiral of the French navy. According to legend, the boats that passed in front of his Château had to lower the sails as a sign of loyalty. The elegance of its classical architecture is a jewel of the Médoc, coveted since its creation in the 17th century by the powerful families who successively marked the economic, political and cultural life of Bordeaux.
