Freixo

Inspired by the rural landscape and the vineyard, the wines of Herdade do Freixo essentially convey the essence of their Terroir!

They are wines of the land, genuine, produced with grape varieties that have proven to adapt better to the climate and soils of the estate, along with less obvious grape varieties that enhance elegance and a distinctive savoir-faire.

Following the most demanding international production processes, they combine tradition and modernity, always prioritizing concentration, longevity, freshness, and finesse.

The grapes of Arinto, Sauvignon Blanc, and Alvarinho were harvested during the cool period of the mornings on the slopes of the Serra d’Ossa. After destemming and pressing, fermentation takes place at low temperatures; 30% of the blend in second-use French oak barrels, with batonnage for 2 months. The fermentation and aging process takes place in an underground cellar under optimal humidity and temperature conditions, where the blend is elaborated, filtered, and bottled young to preserve all the fruit and freshness.

Ideal for pairing with fresh fish dishes, sushi and sashimi, salads, white meats, and grilled red meats.

Quinta Do Freixo

The 300ha of Herdade do Freixo, includes the vineyards and the underground cellar.
In these Alentejo properties, located in the small village of Freixo, northwest of the Municipality of Redondo and covered by the Municipal Ecological Reserve (REN), a quiet landscape stands out, with asymmetries in color, relief and textures of the land, provided by different agricultural activities such as livestock grazing, arable crops and the area of montado and cork oak, included in the network of environmental protection and enhancement.
This landscape eden, whose essence is respect for nature, seasonally receives flocks of migratory species and the very rare Black Stork, which is observed in Portugal, only in the most interior regions, inhospitable, isolated and with little human disturbance. A thousand-year-old olive tree estate surrounds the irrigation dam, forming our Olive Garden, but we can also glimpse these trees that tell hundreds or thousands of years of history throughout the estate. They have been able to resist the passing of time, to surprise us today with their uniqueness and magnificence.
