O Produtor, tasting note published in May 28th 2022

It reflects the aromatic depth of the Chardonnay variety, but with the strong influence of the Terroir do Freixo. It is a rich and expressive wine, with a yellow and bright color. The notes of minerality stand out in the harmony of orange blossoms, citrus and fresh tropical fruits. In the mouth it is ample, with white peach, pineapple and quince. An excellent acidity balances it and gives it a tasting length.

Freixo

Planted in a precise Terroir in Herdade do Freixo, where the fresh winds of Serra d’Ossa predominate, the grapes are selected and harvested in the early hours of the day. After total destemming and a slight pressing, the must ferments in stainless steel, followed by a partial ageing of 2 months in French oak barrels. After the selection of the blend, the wine is filtered and bottled young, in order to express the character of the Chardonnay variety.

Quinta Do Freixo

The 300ha of Herdade do Freixo, includes the vineyards and the underground cellar.
In these Alentejo properties, located in the small village of Freixo, northwest of the Municipality of Redondo and covered by the Municipal Ecological Reserve (REN), a quiet landscape stands out, with asymmetries in color, relief and textures of the land, provided by different agricultural activities such as livestock grazing, arable crops and the area of montado and cork oak, included in the network of environmental protection and enhancement.
This landscape eden, whose essence is respect for nature, seasonally receives flocks of migratory species and the very rare Black Stork, which is observed in Portugal, only in the most interior regions, inhospitable, isolated and with little human disturbance. A thousand-year-old olive tree estate surrounds the irrigation dam, forming our Olive Garden, but we can also glimpse these trees that tell hundreds or thousands of years of history throughout the estate. They have been able to resist the passing of time, to surprise us today with their uniqueness and magnificence.
