Framingham
Produced from carefully selected vineyards, this iconic wine has remained true to its unmistakable character since its first vintage in 1954.
The Framingham Noble Riesling is a sweet, botrytis-affected wine inspired by the classic German “Beerenauslese” style. Botrytis is a fungus that concentrates sugars in the fruit through dehydration, imparting distinctive flavors. The wine is deeply concentrated but retains elegance, without being cloying, thanks to its vibrant acidity and naturally low alcohol content.
Produced exclusively from grapes grown at Framingham Estate. The Riesling vines are among the oldest in Marlborough, planted in the early 1980s, and have been managed under organic principles for over a decade. The soils are composed of well-draining greywacke gravels, with some layers of sand, limiting vine vigor due to low levels of organic matter and nutrients. The vines are trained using a 2-cane or 2-cordon VSP system. Yields are restricted to ensure quality and concentration in the wines. Grapes for this wine were hand-harvested between late April and early June, with ripeness levels ranging from 27 to 37.3 brix.
Food Pairing: Delicious as a dessert wine or perfect with salty cheeses and dried fruits.
