TERROIR
From the heart of Cima Corgo, a pre-eminent sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region. Vineyards planted in terraced shale terraces on the banks of the Douro River.

VINIFICATION
Manual harvest. Transport of grapes in small boxes. Manual choice of curls. Total destemming followed by gentle pressing in a pneumatic press. Static must clarification. Fermentation in stainless steel vats with temperature control. Internship on fine lees until January 2023.

Lima & Smith

It was in 2011 that Marcelo Lima, a Brazilian businessman, and Tony Smith, ex-journalist and correspondent, got together to buy Quinta de Covela, once owned by filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira, but which had been abandoned for two years. The purchase was the fulfilment of a dream for both of them. The previous team joined the challenge, including winemaker Rui Cunha, and the will to do more and better was more than visible.

In the vinho verde region, Lima & Smith operates Quinta de Covela, in certified organic production, in an area which is the birthplace of the Avesso grape variety, recognised for the quality of its whites and rosés. In the demarcated Douro region, it produces wines under the brand Tecedeiras, a brand with history in the Douro. In the Douro Verde, thanks to its partnership with the Eça de Queiroz Foundation, Lima & Smith produces a classic Tormes vinho verde in tribute to the writer.
