Herdade do Esporão

The Esporão Reserva White 2023 is a classic from Alentejo, produced exclusively with grapes from organic farming, from the Esporão vineyards in Alentejo.

Art has accompanied Esporão Reserva from the very beginning. Every year, a new artist illustrates the labels, and each work tells a story that is completed inside the bottle. This year’s artist is Eduardo Aires.

Made to the rhythm of nature, this wine reflects the diversity of Esporão’s territories, visible in the variety of grape varieties and soils, but also in the maturity of the vineyards and the people who consistently produce this wine over the years.

The 2023 agricultural year was hot and dry. During the vegetative rest period (autumn-winter), temperatures were mild, and there was more rainfall than in 2022. However, in spring and summer, temperatures were much higher, and rainfall was very low. As a result of these factors, the vines’ phenology advanced. The harvest was early and concentrated in a few weeks, with the various grape varieties reaching the optimal ripeness quickly, resulting in aromatic, intense wines with great complexity.

Vinification: Destemming, thermal cooling, skin maceration, pressing, static decanting, and fermentation at controlled temperatures: 75% in stainless steel tanks and 25% in American and French oak barrels.

Aging: 6 months in stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, on fine lees. Bottled starting from May 2024.

Winemaker: Teresa Gaspar.

Physicochemical parameters: Total Acidity: 4.7 g/l | pH: 3.37 | Reducing Sugar: 0.6 g/l.
