Eremitas
The Eremitas wines are a group of three DOC Douro wines, all made from the same grape variety, Rabigato, but from three distinct parcels in the Douro Superior. Although they share the same grape and similar winemaking techniques, each parcel has unique characteristics, such as variations in rocks and altitude. These differences, combined with the Mediterranean/continental climate and the schist soil of the Desejosa Formation, give each wine its own identity. The Eremitas wines are therefore a true reflection of the “terrestrial information” conveyed by each location. Discover how the same grape can reveal different facets, depending on the terroir of each parcel, by tasting each of them or simply choosing one to enjoy.
Parcel Amón de Kélia – moderately deep soil with a micro quartz fault crossing the parcel, at 500 meters altitude.
Winemaking: Foot-treading of whole clusters in a calcatórium (granite basin) for 3 hours, followed by pressing in a vertical press. The must flows by gravity into cement tanks in an underground cellar with excellent natural temperature and humidity conditions. Spontaneous fermentation is carried out without temperature control. A one-year aging in cement tanks.
