Dr. Loosen
A true masterpiece in the heart of the Mosel. This vineyard, named Ürziger Würzgarten, meaning “The Spice Garden of Ürzig,” is a visual wonder with its steep red slopes. Forming a picturesque amphitheater through a dramatic bend in the Mosel River, it is directly adjacent to the vineyards of Erden but produces a completely different wine, characterized by unique and exotic aromas, spice notes, and a fascinating earthiness.
Grapes are selectively harvested from the best plots of very old, ungrafted vines, planted in the unique red volcanic soil of Ürzig in the Mosel. Fermentation occurs naturally in traditional Fuder barrels, where the wine rests on lees for 24 months. Subsequently, the GG reserve wine is kept in the bottle for an additional 36 months before being released. This extended maturation provides an additional dimension of finesse and balance to the wine.
