Erdener Treppchen is named after the stone stairs built on the slope for workers to access the vineyards. The soil is red slate, producing wines with complexity and intense minerality. Recently, the vineyard was reorganized, revealing an ancient Roman press at the base of the hill.
Kabinett is the lightest and most delicate style of Riesling in Germany, produced from grapes harvested earlier in the best vineyards. The typical Mosel-Kabinett has a delicate, fresh, and fine taste. Fermentation is halted by cooling, resulting in a lower final alcohol content (typically 7.5–8.5 percent) and a moderate amount of residual sweetness that beautifully balances the bright acidity.
Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen Kabinett is a quality wine (Prädikatswein) produced from healthy and typically ripe grapes, harvested early in the vintage and presenting a minimum must weight of 73° Oe.
