Départment 33
Département 33 originates from Château de Fontenille, from vines planted in soils of sand, gravel, and marl, in the village of La Sauve and Entre-Deux-Mers. Made from 2/3 Sauvignon Blanc and 1/3 Old Vine Sémillon.
Wine, like friendship, requires a lot of attention, care. The wines of Château de Fontenille deserve to be tasted, savored, commented on, and enjoyed among friends, with family.
The elevated fruit combined with the linear minerality of the white wine Département 33 makes it very versatile, but it pairs especially well with shellfish and firm-textured fish, such as Monkfish and Gurnard.
The Entre-deux-Mers region is home to many Bordeaux wine appellations, distinguished especially by its white wines with a rich and elegant bouquet that gives way to dry, fresh, vibrant, and fruity wines. Located between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, its name comes from the Latin “Inter duo maria,” meaning between two tides due to the influence of the tides that rise the rivers through the estuary. The mascaret, a wave formed by the collision between the rising tide and the flow of the rivers, is a manifestation of this. Entre-deux-Mers is a verdant region of hills and valleys, often nicknamed the Bordeaux Tuscany.
