O Produtor, tasting note published in August 15th 2024
Light and bright straw yellow. Very complex and multi-layered aroma, with notes of stone fruit, hay, subtle toast, and bakery notes. Intense, full, and broad palate, with a remarkable balance between amplitude and acidic freshness. Long and textured finish.
Código Bical is a unique single-varietal wine that fully focuses on the Bical grape variety.
Vinification: Grapes sourced from an old Bical vineyard in the parish of Melo, Serra da Estrela sub-region. Direct pressing and static decanting for about 36 hours. The must is then transferred to an old 500 L French oak barrel. Native fermentation and aging on total lees until mid-March. Racked back into the same barrel. After leaving the barrel, the wine is lightly filtered and bottled in August 2024, with a total of about 11 months of barrel aging.
