O Produtor, tasting note published in March 27th 2016

The Aile d'Argent 2014 displays a bright pale yellow color. The nose, highly complex and elegant, reveals ripe fruit aromas combined with delicate notes of acacia flower. On the palate, it begins with well-defined flavors of peach and apricot, evolving into a balanced mid-palate where the acidity and silky texture complement each other in perfect harmony. The finish is mineral and extremely long, highlighting the sophistication of this wine.

Château Mouton Rothschild

Renewing an ancestral tradition in the Médoc, in the early 1980s, Philippine de Rothschild decided to plant, on sandy and gravelly soils, a few plots of the vineyard with white grape varieties. Half of the wine matured in new oak barrels. Rich, complex, and elegant, Aile d’Argent, although produced in very limited quantities, quickly became a benchmark for lovers of great Bordeaux white wines.

“Aile d’Argent… two unusual words that emerged from the depths of time, a link between the past and the present, between my father, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, and me.
When I was a little girl, my father made up a fairy tale for me, the hero of which was a magic teapot… the teapot was called Aile d’Argent, Silver Wing. War broke out, my father was arrested. In prison, from memory, he wrote the story, which he called Aile d’Argent la Magique, the title under which it was published by Gallimard in 1947.
I am happy that the words that once inspired my dreams have taken form and color again.”
– Philippine de Rothschild

The harvest took place between September 12 and 18, with a composition of 57% Sauvignon Blanc and 43% Sémillon.

Château Mouton Rothschild

It was in 1853 that Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought Château Brane-Mouton, which he immediately renamed Château Mouton-Rothschild located in the territories of Pauillac.

After being ranked second on the prestigious 1855 list, it became a Premier Grand Cru in 1973, and thus part of a limited list as there are only 5 Premiers Grands Crus: Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Mouton-Rothschild the three Pauillacs, Château Margaux, the only Margaux, Haut-Brion, the only Graves until 1986 and since then Pessac-Léognan.

The vineyard extends over some 80 hectares planted in varieties typical of the Medoc and Haut-Medoc regions .
