O Produtor, tasting note published in March 27th 2014

The Aile d'Argent 2012 reveals ripe Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon aromas and flavors, combining passion fruit and pineapple with white peach and pear, lifted by subtle buttery notes and a delicately toasted touch. With captivating minerality and a long finish, the Aile d'Argent 2012 stands out as an exceptional wine, potentially considered an exceptional vintage.

Château Mouton Rothschild

Renewing an ancestral tradition in the Médoc, in the early 1980s, Philippine de Rothschild decided to plant, on sandy and gravelly soils, a few plots of the vineyard with white grape varieties. Half of the wine matured in new oak barrels. Rich, complex, and elegant, Aile d’Argent, although produced in very limited quantities, quickly became a benchmark for lovers of fine Bordeaux white wines.

“Aile d’Argent… two unusual words that emerged from the depths of time, a link between the past and the present, between my father, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, and me.
When I was a little girl, my father made up a fairy tale for me, the hero of which was a magic teapot… the teapot was called Aile d’Argent, Silver Wing. War broke out, my father was arrested. In prison, from memory, he wrote down the story, which he called Aile d’Argent la Magique, the title under which it was published by Gallimard in 1947.
I am glad that the words which once inspired my dreams are taking on form and color again.”
– Philippine de Rothschild

The harvest took place between September 11 and 19, with a composition of 63% Sauvignon Blanc and 37% Sémillon.

The vineyard extends over some 80 hectares planted in varieties typical of the Medoc and Haut-Medoc regions .
