Casa Grande Sant'ana
Made up of soils of granite origin, the Marco de Canaveses region has a favourable climate for the production of great vinho verde. Located in the interior of the Region, the region is protected from the influence of the Atlantic and at a high average altitude, so the temperature ranges are higher than the average for the Region and the summer is hotter. The 2017 harvest was considered the best in the last 10 years. Grapes with excellent ripeness levels provided ideal fruit concentration and sugars for the production of great vinho verde. Overall, the 2017 vintage was distinct from previous vintages as being of superior production, quality and earliness – with rapid ripening, the grapes proved ready to harvest earlier than expected.
The harvest started in the last week of August. The grape varieties that make up this wine, Loureiro, Arinto and Trajadura were gently pressed and the must was decanted and fermented at low temperatures. It was only aged in stainless steel vats for 6 months.
