O Produtor, tasting note published in July 9th 2023

Mineral and floral, fresh and structured, pure and deep. Hints of peach, lime and orange blossom. Large presence on the mouth, perfect balance, with impressive purity of fruit, full of flavor, freshness and a crisp citrus acidity. To the table but also to keep some bottles on the cellar because we can also expect surprises after a few years! Perfect match with soft cheese, pasta and other italian food. It goes quite well with fat fish such as codfish, salmon or tuna.

Viticulture and Winemaking:
Produced with the noblest white grape of the Dão region, the Encruzado, cultivated ecologically with complete respect for the terroir. After a strict selection in the vineyards, the grapes were transported in small boxes to the winery. After crushing the whole grapes, the must was decanted for 24 hours. Natural fermentation occurred in stainless steel vats for almost 2 months. The wine aged 9 months on its fine lees (with a gentle battonage). Total production: 9,500 bottles. Bottled in July 2023.

Analysis:
Alcohol: 12.7 % | Total acidity: 6.00 g | pH: 3.11 | Residual sugar: 0.6 g

Casa de Mouraz

Mouraz is António’s birthplace, a village where his family has been cultivating vineyards in a holistic and ecological way for several generations.
The quinta is spread over several vineyards with different soils, altitudes and surroundings, on a total of 25 hectares of land. Old vineyards with about 50 years old and recently planted vineyards coexist with the pine, oak, chestnut and cork-tree forests, in a landscape marked by gentle hillsides cut by small streams. The predominant soils are granite and altitudes vary between 200 and 400 metres. The grape varieties are exclusively Portuguese, with predominance of the typical Dão grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Água-Santa or Baga (in the reds), Encruzado, Malvasia Fina, Bical and Cercial (in the whites). All our vineyards are organically farmed and have been certified by ECOCERT since 1996. In 2006, we started working with biodynamic preparations and practices. In the winery the vinifications are made by vineyards, usually planted with mixed grape varieties, with the aim of seeking the essence of each terroir. In 2009 we joined the prestigious group of biodynamic producers La Renaissance des Appellations.
