O Produtor, tasting note published in March 27th 2022

Casa da Passarella White presents a citrine color. In the mouth it is very lively in acidity, elegant and fine, very gastronomic, delicate and with an enormous freshness in the final set. A cheerful, elegant white with a firm freshness.

Casa da Passarella

The mystery of the box found within one of the walls of Casa da Passarella is finally solved. The story begins in 1942 when a box is walled up in one of the rooms of Casa da Passarella by its former owners, containing a document written in cursive with instructions to be opened 50 years later.

In the document, signed by a set of emblematic characters of the time, there was also a final wish: that all the values stored in the box be distributed to the poor. Yet none of these two things happened. It was only in 2010, when Casa underwent renovations, that the box was found and opened. And there was nothing inside.

Investigations progressed, never unraveling the mystery. When it seemed that resignation was winning over persistence, an expert in the unusual was called to the scene: “the box was indeed full,” explained Professor K. Noronha, “but not of tangible, material things. The box was imbued with an extraordinary essence that, reacting with the times to come, would bring happiness through wine to all who made art and profit from it. Now, those times to come are already part of the present. And this is a double discovery,” he concluded.

The Discovery is a white wine DOC Dão from the Sub-region of Serra da Estrela. It is born from vines planted in poor, granitic soils, in a mountain climate.

Casa da Passarella

Located in Lagarinhos, in the sub-region of Serra da Estrela, at an altitude of 600 to 800m the Casa da Passarella was founded in 1892, even before the demarcation of the Dão region (1908). With its name back in the mouths of the world, it will never be known if it was the climate, if it was the land. If it was the talent of the people who passed through here and their passionate stories and personalities. Or if it was simply luck.
One thing is certain: silent and imposing, the old mountain has seen from above the birth of great wines in this piece of land of the Dão. Great wines were born from this house and these vineyards, before they were abandoned and later valued by the current owner, Ricardo Cabral. The renovated Casa da Passarella , presents wines with rigor and with, not less delicious, labels.
