O Produtor, tasting note published in August 24th 2021

Mineral and citrus aroma of grapefruit and exotic fruits, balanced by barrel aging. On the palate, it is very fresh and persistent, with a lively acidity, in harmony with notes of French oak, suggesting significant longevity.

Beyra

A wine with the complexity and elegance characteristic of high-altitude white wines from Beira Interior, only achievable from grapes of very old vines.

Origin: Grapes sourced from vines planted in clay-schist soils, with an average age of 80 years, on the plateau of Beira Interior in the Douro River basin, within the International Douro Natural Park, at an altitude above 750 meters. Selection of grapes from indigenous varieties – Fonte Cal, Rabo de Ovelha, and Síria – perfectly adapted to the altitude, in varying percentages depending on the vintage.

Vinification and aging: Manual harvest in small perforated crates of 15 kg. Grapes are pressed without crushing or destemming to preserve the full aromatic potential. Great effort is made to ensure that all pre-fermentation operations are carried out with the utmost care, responsible for the intrinsic quality of the future wine, preserving primary aromas.

Fermentation and aging with stirring of fine lees in used French oak barrels until filling.

Rui Roboredo Madeira Vinhos

In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, on the border between the Douro Superior and Beira Alta regions, it was among family that its passion grew for the aromas and smells of this land that shapes our character.
After coming into contact with many cultures of living and making wine, in various parts of the globe, Rui Madeira returned to the great Douro valley convinced that they have the potential to make the best wines in the world.
Out of respect for nature, due to the way we cultivate their vineyards and wines reflect his experiences, which smell and taste of land, of schist, damp granite, rock rose, wild flowers and fruit.
It is in the winery that he makes wines with the character of our ‘terroir’, expressed through native grape varieties, which instil with a style of their own and an international profile.
