Quinta dos Murças
WINE CONCEPT
Respecting the winemaking tradition of the oldest demarcated region in the world, these are wines produced based on their native varieties. Versatile and gastronomic, they express the fresher side of the Douro.
AGRICULTURE
It was an atypical year and one that will be marked by high temperatures and low rainfall. Winter with temperatures higher by +1.5ºC compared to the average and 80% less precipitation. Spring continued drier and warmer than usual. However, during the harvest, at the end of August and September, the temperatures dropped and helped the vines to finish their cycle. The rains between the 12th and 15th of September further helped to finish maturation. We started the harvest on the 17th of August, 6 days earlier than the previous year, with a good balance of fruit and acidity.
SOIL GEOLOGYschist and granite soils.
AVERAGE AGE OF VINEYARDS15 to 20 years.
VINIFICATION / AGING
Manual harvest, selection table, pneumatic pressing, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures (12º to 14ºC).
In stainless steel vats on fine lees.
MORE INFORMATION
DOURO – ALTITUDE – FRESHNESS
Next to one of the boundaries of Quinta dos Murças, we find steep slopes forming a valley. In this place, mostly north facing, more protected from the sun, when the wind passes, we hear it whistling.
It is from vineyards such as those found there, from plots with unique characteristics, at higher elevations, that Assobio comes from.
Fruit of the region’s most traditional grape varieties, our Assobios red, white and rosé, fresh and versatile, are wines with great gastronomic aptitude.
