O Produtor, tasting note published in February 1st 2023

Color: straw yellow. Floral aroma, with a hint of lychees and great minerality. The wood appears in a very subtle and classy way. Complex, fresh, and elegant. A classy white, suitable for aging and with excellent gastronomic aptitude.

Alves de Sousa

For many years, the Alves de Sousa family used their grapes to produce great white Port wines for some of the most important houses in Gaia. In the early 1990s, Domingos, the fourth generation of the family’s wine producers, decided to focus on Douro wines, becoming one of the faces of this “revolution” in the region. The first release at that time, in the land of Port and robust reds, was… a Douro white wine. What could have been seen as a small “heresy” now has many followers. Years later, we maintain our philosophy; we do not chase after the “best grapes,” but work to cultivate the best grapes, day after day, year after year, in our vineyards. We transfer our best varieties to the right “terroirs” (suitable altitudes, exposure, and soils) and with viticulture adapted to this new challenge. This is another result of Alves de Sousa’s knowledge and experience with the white grape varieties of Douro.
