O Produtor, tasting note published in September 18th 2021
Very mineral nose, notes of gunpowder and earth, clay. Fine floral notes, white flowers and citrus. Some notes of honey and beeswax. In the mouth it is fresh, tense and long, with the ability to accompany grilled fish, seafood and some fatty meats. Great body and depth.
This wine was born from the centenary vines of the Bical variety found in the old vineyards of Mealhada. It is a very small production of a wine made in a very traditional way. The manual harvest and a meticulous grape selection almost turn this wine into a rare piece of watchmaking. The best grapes are selected from the vines of this grape variety that are scattered around the century-old vineyard. The winemaking is quite artisanal, the grapes being carefully squeezed in a small and ancient press, and the must immediately forwarded to the oak barrel, where it ferments and ages for 10 months.

Old vines, century-old vines, hillside vines, lowland vines, clay or stony vines, all produce different wines.
It has been our mission to interpret all the differences that exist in the vines and transpose them into the different wines. Our major focus is on old vines of Baga, in the case of the reds, and Bical in the case of the whites, although in some vineyards there are blends with other local grape varieties.
The oenology is minimalist in terms of intervention but quite differentiated and adapted to each of the different vineyards, i.e., the different plots also have a different approach in the winery in order to better reveal what we believe to be their purest expression.
We want wines that are tense, fresh and complex, with a great connection to the terroir and a unique personality and that, fundamentally, will give us pleasure for many years.
