Albert Bichot
Montmains is a Premier Cru from the Left Bank in which the specific parcel of the Long Depaquit faces south-east. A preferred Premier Cru by many, its high chalk content brings huge concentration, minerality and backbone to the wine. The parcel is based on the preferred ‘Les Forets’ sub-plot, whose clay elements in the soil add additional richness to the wine. Domaine Long-Depaquit is the Domaine Chablis, owned by the highly respected négociant house of Albert Bichot. The year 2018 is the first vintage for winemaker Cecilia Trimaille, the first woman to be in charge of one of the Bichot sites. She arrived from Chateau Margaux and started at Bichot at the end of 2017. Each of the 2018s we tasted showed a superb level of concentration, and the classic Chablis strain, compact at first but then expanding and building on the palate. These are a truly impressive set of wines for Cecilia’s first vintage in charge.
