O Produtor, tasting note published in July 1st 2024
Delicate nose with prominent floral aromas reminiscent of white petal flowers. On the palate, it is delicate and well-balanced between refreshing acidity and the floral flavors from the nose. The finish is salivating and elegant.
Muros Antigos Loureiro comes from the Lima sub-region, the birthplace of the Loureiro grape variety. This region features granite soils, deep and poor in organic matter. The vineyards are on mid-slopes facing south along the banks of the Lima River, thus receiving all the freshness from the Atlantic Ocean. This influence determines the freshness and aromatic exuberance of the wine. This terroir provides a wine full of freshness, with crystal-clear acidity and pronounced salinity.
Hand-harvested grapes in small boxes and transported to the winery in a refrigerated environment within a short period of time. Whole cluster pressing after destemming. Cold clarification for 48-72 hours. Long fermentation at low temperature: 14-18°C. Minimum aging of 4 months on fine lees with regular batonnage.

Anselmo Mendes
Anselmo Mendes was born and grew up in Monção. It was then, as a child, that he became acquainted with the culture of the vine and wine production. The Alvarinho variety, and its wine produced there, immediately became a part of his life, to the extent that, today, Anselmo Mendes and Alvarinho are synonymous.
He graduated in Agro-Industrial Engineering in 1987, at the Higher Education Institute of the Technical University of Lisbon, and post-graduated in Oenology at the Catholic University six years later.
