O Produtor, tasting note published in October 22nd 2023
Spices like cinnamon and vanilla on the nose. Quite complex highlighting varietal aromas as well as some dried fruits, hazelnut and almond. In the mouth it allows a vibrant acidity and the aromas are well present. Volume in the mouth, minerality and long finish. The touch of oak provides structure in the mouth offering elegance and equilibrium.
type of wine
White wine made from Alvarinho grapes exclusively produced in Monção and Melgaço. Grapes with high levels of acidity and good maturation, coming from older vines over 14 years old. It is an old-fashioned wine, extracting more color and tannins through contact with the skins during winemaking. A different and unique way of exploring the potential of the Alvarinho variety to the full.
winemaking
Grapes picked by hand in small boxes and transported to the cellar in a short time. Pellicular maceration followed by fermentation with the skins for a few hours. Fermentation ends in used 400 liter French oak barrels. In the same barrels it undergoes bâtonnage for 9 months on total lees. Aged for 12 months in bottle.

Anselmo Mendes
Anselmo Mendes was born and grew up in Monção. It was then, as a child, that he became acquainted with the culture of the vine and wine production. The Alvarinho variety, and its wine produced there, immediately became a part of his life, to the extent that, today, Anselmo Mendes and Alvarinho are synonymous.
He graduated in Agro-Industrial Engineering in 1987, at the Higher Education Institute of the Technical University of Lisbon, and post-graduated in Oenology at the Catholic University six years later.
