O Produtor, tasting note published in September 13th 2023

Color: Vibrant golden brown hue.
Nose: Intense bouquet of caramelized raisins with hints of toffee, banana, vanilla, and tobacco.
Palate: Concentrated and powerful palate with crystallized sweet tropical fruits, tobacco, and spices. Toasted and buttery oak provides structure and depth, along with a complex and smooth finish of leather and dark chocolate.

Chairman's Reserve

Rum Blend: The Vintage 2009 is a unique blend of 11-year-old rums from our batch distillation stills (John Dore 2 & Vendome) and our Coffey column still.

Maturation: The rums age independently for 11 years in ex-bourbon barrels before being skillfully blended by our master blender, Deny Duplessis. They are then reintroduced to oak for a few more months for perfect incorporation.

To enjoy neat or in a cocktail like, for example, in a Chairman’s Julep:

Ingredients:
60 ml of Chairman’s Reserve
6-8 leaves + generous sprigs of mint
7.5 ml of simple or cane syrup

Method:
Add mint and syrup to a julep tin and lightly muddle.
Add rum and crushed ice, then stir.
Top with more crushed ice and garnish with a bouquet of mint.

St. Lucia Distillers Group, ltd.

St. Lucia Distillers, which is now one of the most cherished treasures of the island of Saint Lucia, was founded by Denis Barnard in 1931.

In the mid-1990s, Laurie Barnard, the Chairman of St. Lucia Distillers, was determined to make a change: “If we want to export our rum, we need to be different; we need to have the tools to make great rum the old way. A column still and molasses are one-dimensional.” Thus began a journey that changed the landscape of the company with new planning for sugarcane cultivation and the acquisition of three pot stills to join the existing Coffey still. Always innovative, never content with mediocrity, and driven by a competitive spirit, Laurie propelled the idea of having a diversity of rums from different stills and aged in contrasting woods, so that the master blender would have a range of maturation profiles from which to create a great rum.
