O Produtor, tasting note published in October 23rd 2020
With a ruby colour, this genuine wine is reminiscent of the old style of rosé wines, which arouses curiosity for the tasting. Pata D`Urso Rosé 2019, presents itself in the nose with aromas of red fruits, floral touches, with light vanilla aromas, giving it a fine subtlety. In the mouth, we are surprised by its elegance and softness, ending with a long and fresh finish, marked by its good natural acidity.
In a year in which objectives and goals were achieved, one of them was the elaboration of a rosé wine that was genuine. Thus was born the Pata D’Urso Rosé 2019. Through a selection of the oldest Douro grape varieties present in the old vineyards of Quinta da Furada, this wine was ‘designed’. The harvest was done manually. The grapes were crushed and destemmed. In granite lagares, a pre-fermentative maceration at low temperatures was carried out for 24 hours. After that, 12% of the lagar’s volume was bled, where about 600 litres of must were removed to make this Rosé. The fermentation process began, all of which took place in 600 litre French oak barrels, where it remained for 6 months.

Quinta da Furada
Furada is a farm that has belonged to the same family for at least seven generations. The present descendants are the trinkets of its heir Valério Augusto de Sousa, who saw his first son born in the house, in 1919, still inhabited today. Born in 1888, he often said that his wife had inherited from his grandparents the present houses with vineyards and olive groves surrounding them, but to which, and by the will of Phylloxera, he added another 24 sorts, by buying from 24 small neighboring landowners, then disappointed with the effects of this almost fatal disease for the Douro.
Thus enlarging Quinta da Furada which has since remained one, keeping secrets, stories, flavours and mysteries. Proof of the search for the unveiling of the secrets of this farm, and what ended up giving it its name, were the holes found in the property that denote the search for wolfram, still from Roman times.
